Vomiting Syndrome : A rare diagnosis

Cyclic vomiting syndrome is a rare disease and generally  affects to children. As it is rare some patients are misdiagnosed. 

It is a disorder that appears with sudden, repeated attacks of nausea and vomiting that can last from a few hours to several days.

Its a type of abdominal migraine with recurrent vomiting.

In ICD 9 CM there is not any specific code for CVS,  so that cases can code with symptom codes.

After implementation of ICD-10-CM,  CVS can code specifically. 

  • G43.A0  Cyclical vomiting non intractable.
  • G43.A1 Cyclical vomiting intractable.
